It's All Bass-Ackwards In Buzzards Bay
Saturday, July 26, 2008 marked the 11th year for the BassAckwards Regatta at Buzzards Bay, and the 5th straight year of Pusser’s involvement as the major sponsor of the weekend’s festivities. This year’s race included 54 registered boats – and some of the most spirited competition in the history of the race. Sailors tested themselves and their boats in a strong, steady breeze and, in the end, Eider Down overcame her substantial handicap and dashed across the finish line in the fastest time since the race’s inception!
Pusser’s Rum was enjoyed by all boat crews and their guests at the Captain’s Meeting and subsequent Pre-Race Party on the grounds at Kingman Yacht Center while Pusser’s goodies were included in the Race Bags distributed to all boat crews.
The post-race Beach Party was attended by some 350 boats, a well-behaved crowd that the harbormaster called the largest assembly of boaters to gather in town waters in his memory. Pusser’s sponsorship was acknowledged on stage during the party, especially during the presentation of the decanter to the winner. Boaters are still walking around everywhere sporting the Pusser’s commemorative race caps!
