For the traditional sailor, the idea of holystoning the teak decks in anything but the traditional boat shoe was a travesty – that’s before some of the feminine crew members added the knitted scuff to their shipboard wardrobe.

Now what started as a travesty, has become the accepted functional reality. . .  with the standard boat shoe exiled to the sail locker.
